Capture Thought


Capture Thought was created because I wanted a simple method to extend the one-on-one learning environment beyond the classroom. Capture Thought enables my students to demonstrate their mastery of a concept with a tool that many of them already have and are proficient using.  This allows me to give personalized and timely feedback to foster their learning.

When a student is doing homework or classwork, they can detach and unfold Capture Thought allowing them to place their phone on top pointing the phone’s camera down to an attached white board or specially formatted paper. 

From there, students can either record themselves doing a problem to keep in a personal library for recall and review or submit the video to their teacher as a homework assignment to receive feedback. Students can also use it to have a live video chat with a tutor or friend to get assistance. 


Research shows that by having students record themselves as they work and talk their way through a problem, they are activating deeper levels of understanding which will allow them to retain and truly master the content.

Students don't need anything extra to charge, just use what you already have: your phone and a 3-Ring Binder.  Capture Thought is attached using strong magnets.

Capture Thought comes with a custom white board and dry erase pen.  The white board has two sides, one is blank and one has a grid.

Capture Thought sets up in seconds.  Once you are ready to use it, simply put your phone to video mode and rotate your screen 180 degrees.  Place your phone on top with the camera facing the white board and hit record!
